Moritz Grossmann presents two new versions of the POWER RESERVE for all admirers of sporty stainless steel

To mark the 12th anniversary of Moritz Grossmann in Glashütte I/SA, the German manufactory for exquisitely crafted watches with perfect mechanisms is now launching two more special, handcrafted models.

For all watch enthusiasts who prefer steel to precious metal, the new POWER RESERVE models are an attractive and dynamic option. Once again, the independent manufactory has demonstrated its openness to creative, timeless designs and a sporty, elegant touch with these latest models.

Both versions are each limited to twelve pieces worldwide to celebrate the twelve-year anniversary of the manufactory.

Moritz Grossmann POWER RESERVE brushed steel and blackened steel

POWER RESERVE brushed steel – blue dial with power reserve indicator in anthracite/white

The POWER RESERVE steel with a brushed steel case features a solid silver dial printed and lacquered in a deep shade of blue. Fine Arabic numerals in white create a well-defined contrast. Handcrafted, polished steel hands complete the linear design of this classic watch.

Crafted from stainless steel, the polished hands feature a white HyCeram filling and subtly contrast with the blue of the dial. HyCeram is a composite material with a UV-stable colour and forms a firm bond with the metal base. The coloured filling can be sanded and polished flush with the hands. This lends a special brilliance to Grossman’s characteristically fine hands to assure excellent legibility.

Made of brushed stainless steel, the case adds a flawless satin touch to the wrist. The matching power reserve display is in anthracite and white and discreetly indicates the remaining running time of the watch.

POWER RESERVE blackened steel – black dial with power reserve indicator in red/white

The new black – black meets black – the POWER RESERVE steel version with black dial, also available in solid silver, features a matching blackened case, accentuating the sporty, elegant look of this model. The white Arabic numerals create a vibrant contrast to ensure perfect readability.

Like their sister version, the stainless steel rhomboid hands – specially crafted in the manufactory – are filled with white HyCeram and contrast brilliantly as they move against the jet-black dial.

The POWER RESERVE indicator in red and white underlines the striking, sporty character of this model.

Power reserve indicator

The power reserve indicator is proof of absolute technical perfection. Designed as a two-colour bar-shaped indicator element, it is controlled by a differential gear. This drives a segment mounted in the centre of the calibre, creating a two-colour bar display below the logo to indicate the remaining power reserve. It indicates the watch’s remaining running time. When the movement is fully wound, a completely white bar is displayed and when the power reserve decreases, an increasingly coloured bar is displayed.

Calibre 100.2

The calibre 100.2 is an extension of the calibre 100.1. Thanks to the differential gear, it houses an additional mechanism for displaying the power reserve.

A sapphire crystal back on the reverse of the watch reveals the intricately finished parts in the POWER RESERVE, showcasing the ‘Schönstes deutsches Handwerk’ in the form of the finest cuts and polishes from the Moritz Grossmann manufactory. The calibre 100.2 of the POWER RESERVE also features a cantilevered balance cock with Grossmann micrometre screw and the mass optimised Grossmann balance along with a separately removable winding block.

The Grossmann manual winder with pusher

Grossmann manual winder with pusher contains a perfected hand setting mechanism, which eliminates two potential problem areas: avoiding the ingress of foreign particles during the adjustment process and altering the hands unintentionally when pushing the crown back into place. After a short pull on the winding crown, the mechanism switches to hand setting and simultaneously stops the movement.

The crown immediately returns to its original position, allowing the hands to be adjusted precisely. The movement is then restarted using the pusher below the winding crown without having to move the crown again. At the same time, the mechanism is reset to winding mode.

Calfskin strap

The POWER RESERVE steel is available in brushed steel with a fine, hand-sewn calfskin strap in brown.

The blackened steel version is available with a matching calfskin strap.

History

On 11 November 2008, Christine Hutter founded Grossmann Uhren using the great name of the co-founder of the Glashütte watch industry, Moritz Grossmann. In so doing, she ensured that the legacy of the highly respected watch pioneer was revived after around 130 years. Since 2008, the company has been manufacturing watches to the highest standard of craftsmanship in a classic but at the same time modern design.
