Subtle Elegance

TEFNUT Silver-Plated by Friction

Back

The year 2026 is a special one for the Moritz Grossmann manufactory in Glashütte, as its founder and namesake was born on 27 March 1826 – exactly 200 years ago.

The third special edition for the 200th birthday of Moritz Grossmann: on 29 April 2026, the manufactory will debut two versions of the TEFNUT Silver-Plated by Friction, one with a yellow gold case and the other with a white gold case. This means the anniversary will be offering a further premiere, namely, the first time that the TEFNUT model will be available with a yellow gold case.

Both models reference the anniversary year with an ‘1826’ engraving on the movement’s balance cock. The vintage ‘M. GROSSMANN’ logo on the dial, appearing just as it did in 1875, is a further homage to history.

The case

The case of the TEFNUT is crafted from noble rose or white gold. Given the extra-flat design of the movement, the silhouette of the case is exceptionally svelte as well. Thus, the watch gently hugs the wrist. Its sleek elegance is underscored by the fluted crown, four gracefully tapered lugs, and a hand-stitched alligator leather strap.

The slightly cambered sapphire-crystal glass and caseback merge seamlessly with the minimalist front and back of the TEFNUT. They protect the filigreed components and provide an unobstructed view of the distinctive details of the watch.

The dial

Subtle elegance meets premeditated innovation — in the TEFNUT, this philosophy is self-evident in the clearly structured, two-part dial and in its interaction with the hands that were created especially for this model.

The face pairs modern form with classic design: Slightly domed hour markers encircle the argenté or charcoal dial, prominently interrupted by crisp Arabic numerals at the 6 and 12 o‘clock positions.

Deeply carved pinstripes adorn the inner part of the charcoal dial. They grace the watch with understated momentum.

The hands

The lucid shape and the finesse of the hands of the TEFNUT are truly impressive. They are manually crafted from steel or stainless steel in numerous steps.

A node that tapers toward the eye of the hand and narrows to a fine point at the tip characterises the shape that was developed especially for the TEFNUT. It assures that the time is always accurately readable.

The butterfly clasp

The carefully hand-stitched alligator strap is secured with a optional available butterfly clasp that makes the watch easy to put on and take off. It is made of gold and features a dependable pushbutton safety catch.
